Wingnut Wrapup

100 Days Memorial Edition.  Although having our White House packed with fascists and outright Neo-Nazis sure makes the ravings of these pathetic lunatics seem less important.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  " Liberal Myth-Busting: Yes, 'The Rich' Are Already Paying AT LEAST Their 'Fair Share' in Taxes"

Fair, as defined by rich people.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Report: As Moderates Balk Over New Deal, GOP Working on More Tweaks to Obamacare Repeal Bill"

Or, in plain English, Republicans working on exactly how piggish they can make their health care bill and still ram it down people's throats.  Here's a little more from Guy:

"Dan McLaughlin snarks, "shutting down the government over healthcare is totally okay now, you guys."

Well, you know what?  Shutting down government to keep millions from losing their health care is okay.  Shutting it down to take health care away from millions is not okay.  Get the difference there?  It's not about shutting down government, it's about screwing millions of people to give huge tax cuts to your financial backers; i.e. standard-issue Republican corruption.

And now, a perfect view of how Republican dupes voters see Trump's tax plan:

See, one sheet of giveaways to the rich is better than a hundred years of trying to produce an equitable tax system.  Because only something short enough to be read (or written) by an illiterate is adequate for Republican voters.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Judicial Watch Confirms: Hillary Clinton Was Targeted By A Grand Jury...Government watchdog group Judicial Watch confirmed Thursday that while being criminally investigated by the FBI, federal agents used a Grand Jury to target former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election."

Katie forgot to mention that the grand jury found nothing.

Lauretta Brown, Town Hall:  "Pruitt: U.S. Should Leave Paris Climate Agreement because It’s a ‘Bad Business Deal’"

Saving the human race- just not good enough for the next quarterly bottom line.

Tom Knighton, PJ Media:  "Study Finds Democrats Least Tolerant of Opposing Views...Their "tolerance" lie isn't fooling anyone anymore."

Yes indeed.  Democrats are less tolerant of things like "Let's let millions die so rich people can have more money" than Republicans are of things like "Let's have medical care for everyone."  Democrats are less tolerant of "Let's go to war, because war is fun, as long as someone else does the dying," than Republicans are of "Let's not go to war because war isn't really a good thing." A totally fair comparison, as long as you ignore the fact that Democrats' ideas are generally pretty good, while Republicans' ideas are criminal monstrosities.

Bridget Johnson, PJ Media: "Taliban Launch Spring Offensive with Focus on Killing Americans"

Thanks, Obama.  Oops, sorry- thanks, Trump.  See, he did accomplish something in his first hundred days.

Roger L. Simon, PJ Media:  "Will Fascism Come to America through Its Colleges and Universities?"

It's already here, dickwad, and it came through people like you, not people who actually care about the truth.

And now, today's least scary terrorist attack:

Michael Van der Galien, PJ Media:  "Westminster Terror Scare: Man Arrested at Downing Street With 'a Bag of Knives'"

A bag of knives!  No word on whether the man who set off a bomb containing eight thousand pounds of explosives in Afghanistan, to scare someone in another country ten thousand miles away, has been arrested yet.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "President Trump on First 100 Days: “I Don’t Think Anyone Has Done What We’ve Been Able to Do”

Well, except maybe William Henry Harrison, who got sick on inaugural day and died less than a month later, and who consequently did nothing.

And this is the point at which an uncloseable window popped up at Gateway Pundit claiming to be a message from Microsoft, and trying to extort money from me.  Happens every month or so with these right wing sites.  Funny that things like that never occur at Daily Kos or Crooks and Liars.  Almost makes you think people like Jim Hoft are getting paid to let jerks screw with your computer.

Washington Times:  "Pro-lifers deliver 200,000 baby socks to Congress in plea to defund Planned Parenthood"

That's nice.  The only problem being that the baby-sized part of Republicans is at the other end of their anatomy.  Unless, of course, we are talking about Donald Trump, who apparently has a baby-sized part midway in between.

Jonathan Wood, American Thinker:  "Yes, President Trump Can Undo Controversial National Monuments"

"Controversial," of course, among the people for whom evolution and global warming are controversial, as well as whether the Nazis were really bad guys.

"President Trump has an opportunity to reconsider whether the more than 500 million acres President Obama locked up could be better put to creating jobs and economic growth."

Jobs...economic growth.  How many times do we have to hear that crap?  We know they mean creating more opportunities for rich guys to plunder our national wealth.  They don't give a damn about jobs.

And now what may be the most shameless lie of the century:

Jack Hellner, American Thinker:  "It certainly appears that Trump has more common sense and intelligence on taxes and the economy than many of those advising him, the career politicians from both parties, the bureaucrats, the media and most economists. I am a 64 year old CPA who has been doing taxes for approximately 40 years. This is the most intelligent tax policy I have seen since Ronald Reagan’s and my initial thoughts make me believe that it is better than Reagan’s. It is a simple and logical plan that would give everyone the incentive to earn more instead of spending so much time and money trying to beat the tax man.  I believe the impetus it would give to economic growth is immeasurable."

A simple and logical plan to plunder trillions of dollars from the nation, grotesquely increase the Federal debt, steal from everyone but the hyper-rich, and leave our country in a depression.  Great work there, Trump.  It took real brilliance to get all of that on one sheet of paper.

And historical revisionism ramped up to the explosion point:

Jeremy Egerer, American Thinker:  "First They Came for the Nazis...As if the Germans themselves weren't terrified of the communists... as if the danger of a German communist uprising wasn't openly counted on and courted by the Red intelligentsia; as if the Nazis weren't a socialist counter-reaction (and what a counter-reaction!) to the hellish transgressions of ascendant communism.  The Jews were treated poorly by the majority in Russia, so sizable portions of the Jews joined the communists.  The Nazis saw what the Jews did in Russia, and so they turned on the Jews in Germany. "

Nazi apologizing and open anti-Semitism of a kind that would have been unthinkable in the United States just a couple of years ago.  Thank you, Republicans, for deliberately, and with malice aforethought, letting this monster out of its cage.

"Gone are the days of raiders taking our women and highwaymen stealing our purses.  We are instead plagued by our do-gooders and social justice warriors and philanthropists."

Do-gooders are just criminals under another name, while a war-mongering racist bully is a hero. Well, I think that's enough from this guy.

Ian Hanchett, Breitbart:  "Trump: ‘The First 100 Days of My Administration Has Been Just About the Most Successful In Our Country’s History’"

We've all heard this insane boast by now, but I just wanted to include it here for the hundreds of thousands of future historians who are going to be poring over Wingnut Wrapup to understand what happened in America.

Judy Byington, MSW, LCSW, ret, CEO, Child Abuse Recovery, Before it's News:  "On Sunday April 30 children will be tortured and murdered as subjects of Ninth Circle Cult human sacrifice rites at Catholic facilities in Rome, Montreal, London, Paris, Brussels, Geneva, Frankfurt, Tara, Ireland and Washington (DC) according to Kevin Annett, spokesperson for the International Common Law Court of Justice in Brussels...Influential banker, political, business and church leaders were said planning the Satanic pedophile human sacrifice festivals."

Just in case you haven't heard yet.  Here's a little more evidence of criminality turned up by the International Common Law Court of Justice:

"The Ninth Circle Satanic Child Sacrifice Cult was believed to use privately owned forest groves in the US, Canada, France and Holland for their “Human Hunting Parties” for global elites including members of European royal families. Teens were said to be obtained by the mafia, then stripped naked, raped, hunted down and killed..Two adolescent women told the ICLCJ Court that Pope Francis raped them while participating in child sacrifices."

Let me just remind you that, if there is one thing we have learned from their behavior, it is that, whenever Conservatives accuse someone else of some abomination, that is exactly what a lot of those Conservatives are up to themselves.

And this vital piece of information from Henry Makow, someone who used to figure quite regularly at Wingnut Wrapup, until I got bored of him:

Henry Makow, Before it's News:  "Jack the Ripper” Was Winston Churchill’s Father"

Personally,I think Winston Churchill's father was actually Joe the Ripper:

Anyway, here's a post from Henry's own site:

Milan Pullman, Henry Makow.com:  "Pizza references in music go hand in hand with Satanism and/or pedophilia."

Okay, then.  I'll never listen to Beethoven's "Pizza Symphony" again.

Baxter Dmitry, Your News Wire:  "Adele Caught Shapeshifting Into Eight-Foot Reptilian In New Zealand...Adele “shapeshifted into an eight-foot reptilian” backstage at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium after the final concert of her world tour, according to shocked fans and a reporter from the New Zealand Herald. "

Man, that does not bode well for the future of boring music. Next, Brittany Spears is going to morph into a Satanic pizza.  Curiously, I went to the site for the New Zealand Herald, which is the largest circulation paper in New Zealand, and did a search for this story.  The result?  Nothing.  Their space lizard overlords must have ordered them to take it down.

Before it's News:  "Why Does Jared Kushner Look Like He Is Getting Ready to Play the Role of the Biblical Antichrist?

A vital question.  See the evidence for your self:
Jared Kushner:

The Antichrist:

The similarity is obvious, I am sure you will agree.

Well, short but sweet today.  Catch you later.

Who Are The Real Welfare Chiselers

This is something that I, among many honest people, have been pointing out for years, but as it is virtually ignored by the mainstream press, it's just as well to bring it up once in a while:  Republican States are overwhelmingly recipients of Federal tax money that is extorted from Democratic States.  Of course, we constantly hear the exact opposite from Republicans- that the hard working real Americans in rural areas are robbed to support those brown and black people in the cities, so we need to bring up the truth on occasion.

Here's a recent article from Buzz Flash, entitled "Blue State Voters Subsidize Southern Red State Voters, Not the Other Way Around," which makes this point, and is well worth taking a look at.  It is illustrated with the following map, which pretty much says it all:
This shows the Southern States that live off of the earnings of the rest of us.  A sample of the article:

"Nine of the ten states with the largest percentage of nonpayers are in the South and Southwest. In Mississippi, 45 percent of federal tax returns remit nothing or receive money with their federal tax returns; that is the highest percentage nationally. Georgia is next at 41 percent, followed by Arkansas at 41 percent, and Alabama, South Carolina, and New Mexico at 40 percent... Yet, every election, the myth that white rural voters are paying to prop up poor people of color in cities is trotted out."

Best to keep this in mind.

Trump's Dramatic Tax Overhaul Calls For...

NOTE:  Revised to add points VII and VIII below.

Calls for what?  Those are the first words of the Washington Post story about the pathetic one page "tax plan" released by the Trump administration today.  Before even looking at the actual contents of that page, I would like to write the first sentence of what would have been my strictly neutral report on this earth-shaking event:

"Trump reveals intent to ram through the same massive tax cuts for the rich that Republicans have been pushing for a century, larded with the bare minimum of supposed cuts for everyone else- cuts that will miraculously largely disappear before the bill is enacted- to delude his greed-maddened, stupid supporters into destroying their children's future for a few bucks thrown their way."

Okay, now we have the pre-written view from both sides.  Let's look at Trump's proposal and see who is closer to the truth.

I.  Cutting the top corporate tax rate from 35% to 15%- that is to say, an approximate 56% cut in the taxes that large corporations pay.

II.  Doing away with the estate tax, i.e. in Republican scary-land, the "death tax."  In the last year for which I remember the numbers, this tax was levied on 1600 families, with an average net worth of over $16,000,000 dollars.  The main beneficiaries will be the Walton family, who have been the main donors to the campaign to eliminate the estate tax for years, and who as a family will see a $20 billion dollar windfall from this plan.  We'll soon be hearing the stories about the family farms crushed out of existence by the estate tax, a perennial feature of attacks on it, despite the fact that no one has ever been able to find a single family farm that had to be sold because of this tax.

III.  Eliminating the Federal deduction for State and local taxes paid.  This will cost most working Americans thousands, while being an absolutely insignificant burden on the rich, who make a very small amount of their income through wages.

IV. " It would eliminate the seven existing income tax brackets and replace them with three brackets, containing new rates of 10 percent, 25 percent and 35 percent, based on someone’s income. White House officials haven’t specified which income levels would hit the higher tax brackets, as they see that as part of ongoing discussions with Capitol Hill."

Ongoing discussions to calculate what the minimum amount of crumbs they need to throw to their voters, to get them to go along with their own long-term rape.  My guess?  Next to nothing.  I think, based on a lifetime observing this is that somewhere between $200 and $500 dollars will be enough to induce the average Republican voter to cut their own throats, yelling hoorah the whole time.*

V.  Eliminating practically all tax deductions.  Of course, since the vast bulk of money made by the rich comes from capital gains, this would not hurt them at all.  It would, however, shove the upper middle class one step backward on the economic ladder, a wonderful thing since so many of them are educated, and therefore tend to be liberals.

VI.  A one-time tax “holiday” to incentivize companies to bring several trillion dollars currently being held in other countries back into the United States

And if that weren't bad enough:

VII: Doing away with the "alternative minimum tax," a provision designed to prevent rich people from finding ways to pay no taxes at all.  The vast majority of taxes paid last year by Trump, for example, were owed under this provision.  Eliminating it would provide him with a yearly windfall in the tens of millions of dollars.

VIII:  Enacting the so-called "pass through" provision, allowing rich company owners to pay their personal taxes at the corporate rate of 15%, grossly lowering their tax payments, while benefiting no one else.

Rewarding the rich with trillions of dollar in tax relief, in return for their stab in the backs of all the rest of us, of course accompanied by the nonsense that these rich companies would turn right around and invest their money in creating American jobs they do not need, as opposed to having the companies' owners just pocket the proceeds.  The second possibility is, of course, the way this sort of thing has played out every time it was tried, throughout history, but this time it will be different, right?

Well, there you have it:  does it sound a little familiar to you?  It should if you follow politics, because every single one of these piggish acts of theft has been at the very top of the Republican economic agenda for a hundred years.  This is not old wine in new bottles; it is old poison in the same old bottles.  But then, what did you expect?

Here's how the Washington Post characterizes the Democratic response:

"Ahead of the announcement, some Democrats were skeptical. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), said members of his party would scrutinize the details..."

That's nice, isn't it? See, everyone is ready to cooperate in passing this fair-minded, well-intentioned proposal.  Here, by the way, is what Schumer really said:

“That’s not tax reform,” Schumer said on the Senate floor. “That’s just a tax giveaway to the very, very wealthy that will explode the deficit.”

Skeptical.  Well, I guess you could say that.  So, here we go again.  The Republican party, as many of us have been pointing out for years, is nothing but a corrupt criminal conspiracy to benefit their massive campaign donors at the expense of everyone else.  This is as true today as it was thirty, or fifty, or a hundred years ago, and that is why their economic program has never budged from these few goals of the hyper-rich.  Trump is just providing new cover for the Ryans and McConnells of this world to achieve their life-long goals while setting up Trump to take the fall when it all goes disastrously wrong, as it has every time this sort of agenda has ever been tried.

So, I guess it's unfair to have one of the contestants doing the judging, but I'm awarding the trophy for Truth in Headlines to Green Eagle.  Any objections?

Update:  Robert Reich's description of this proposal:

"In reality, it’s the biggest declaration of class warfare – Trump’s and Mnuchin’s class against average Americans -- in history."

Well, the biggest declaration of class warfare since the last Republican tax "reform" bill- they basically all have the same things in them.

Update 2:  The Tax Policy Center estimates that this bill would net a person with a $50,000 income a whopping $350 in savings, much of which might be wiped out by other provisions in the plan; it would benefit the very highest earners hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars every year.  All of this raising the Federal debt, which Republicans claim to care about so much, by $7.2 trillion in the first decade, and by $20.9 trillion by the end of the second decade. I just want to say that my guess from yesterday of $200 to $500 as being the amount that Republicans would decide that it would take to buy off the suckers looks pretty good today.  They cynicism of all this is just astonishing.

*Well, at least until they actually cut their throats.  It's really hard to yell hoorah after your throat is cut.

From Bad to Worse at United

And now this news, helpfully brought to us by Yahoo:

"Rabbit set to be world's biggest dies on United Airlines flight in fresh PR disaster...Simon, a three-foot continental rabbit, was reportedly travelling from Heathrow to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport after the 10-month old bunny was purchased by a celebrity owner.

But breeder Annette Edwards has now claimed that the animal was on course to grow even bigger than his father Darius – who became the world’s biggest rabbit after growing to 4ft 4 inches."

Here's a picture of Simon's father:
USA Today reports that a third of all animal deaths on US flights the last five years occurred on United Airlines.

Apparently, there really is something going wrong with United, as stories about their malfeasance seem to be in the news every couple of days.  I can't pretend this is as important a story as whether Trump has decided to incinerate the world today, but I'm sure you all appreciate seeing the picture of the giant bunny.

And In Other News

Today, Donald Trump, the World's Toughest Negotiator, caved on his signature issue, which he promised his supporters to do, literally hundreds of times: building his great wall.

He can't even get his own party to go along with him.  But of course, it's all the Democrats' fault for refusing to accept his offer of not kicking millions of people off of health insurance if they would help him get some kind of propaganda victory before his first hundred days are up, on Saturday.

Do you think this is the point where the mainstream press will start covering him solely and utterly as the miserable, worthless failure that he is?

Do you think this is the point where his approval rating among the people who voted for him will fall below 96%?

Nope.

Senators Tank the Treason Investigation

Remember when Devin Nunes was proving that both he personally and the House "investigation" into Donald Trump's clear treason were dedicated to nothing but covering up the truth?  Remember when everyone in the media was saying that it was just fine to have these people collaborating in this monstrous crime, because we were being assured that the Senate investigation was determined to get to the bottom of the whole thing?

Was there anyone out there who bought that?  Outside of the mainstream press, of course, which is paid to swallow garbage like that on a daily basis?  Why, Republican Senator Richard Burr told us over and over again that he was serious about this inquiry, and Democratic ranking member Mark Warner was right there to be a character witness for Burr.  Hallelujah, government was going to function at last!

Here's a disturbing, but totally predictable article from Tim Mak at the Daily Beast, detailing the state of the Senate committee's investigation to date, months after the Trump treason became clear:

"Senate Trump-Russia Probe Has No Full-Time Staff, No Key Witnesses

The Senate Intelligence Committee’s probe into Russia’s election interference is supposedly the best hope for getting the public credible answers about whether there was any coordination between the Kremlin and Trump Tower.

But there are serious reasons to doubt that it can accomplish this task, as currently configured. More than three months after the committee announced that it had agreed on the scope of the investigation, the panel has not begun substantially investigating possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, three individuals with ties to the committee told The Daily Beast.

The investigation does not have a single staffer dedicated to it full-time, and those staff members working on it part-time do not have significant investigative experience...No interviews have been conducted with key individuals suspected of being in the Trump-Russia orbit: not Michael Flynn, not Roger Stone, not Carter Page, not Paul Manafort, and not Jared Kushner, according to two sources familiar with the committee’s procedures."

As anyone with a tenth of a brain could have predicted, this is not an investigation, it is just one more step of the coverup, brought to us by Republicans that don't give a damn if our President is a traitor, selling us out as fast as he can to a foreign dictator, as long as he is on board with cutting taxes for rich people; and Democrats like Mark Warner, who are so afraid of being called partisan by the Republican owned mainstream press, that they will avert their gaze from the criminal monstrosity that sits in the White House.

And one more remark from the above article:

“It’s either a real investigation or not,” said one individual with knowledge of the committee’s activities.

It's not. I think that is pretty clear at this point.

Wingnut Wrapup

I just found this random quotation by accident the other day:
"...no man needs ever despair of gaining proselytes to the most extravagant hypothesis, who has art enough to represent it in any favourable colours. The victory is not gained by the men at arms, who manage the pike and the sword; but by the trumpeters, drummers, and musicians of the army."

- David Hume, Treatise on Human Nature

So, I thought I would start off by featuring a few of the wingnut reactions to yesterday's marches for science, across the country.  Sorry, they just ignored it, so I will settle for second best by reminding you whose birthday it was yesterday:
I'm almost certain that this picture is a photoshop job, since by my highly scientific calculation, Lenin died  35 years before the ES-335 was invented, but you never know.  I for one never knew when Lenin's birthday was until wingnuts discovered it was the same day as Earth Day, and (of course) built several decades of conspiracy theories around this fact, claiming that environmentalism is a Communist plot.

Town Hall:  "AP: Fresno Shooter Didn't Yell 'Allahu Akbar' ... He Said God Is Great In Arabic"

Well, glad we got that straight.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "There Are Two Americas, A ‘Front Row And The Back Row’…And Yes–Trump Exposed It"

And if you believe no one noticed that until Donald Trump came along, you really are among the stupidest people on earth; although not as stupid as someone who believes Donald Trump intends to do a thing about it except make it worse.

Dennis Prager, Town Hall:  "If you prize clarity, then these past weeks were some of the best in memory...When America leads, the world is better."

Even when America is leading us into a world war, Dennis?  Of course, the usual lie:

"Following President Trump's order to attack Syria about 63 hours after the Syrian regime seemingly used chemical weapons, even many in the mainstream media couldn't help but contrast his prompt response with Obama's nonresponse to Assad's use of chemical weapons in 2013. And almost every report further noted that Obama failed to do anything after having promised that he would regard the use of chemical weapons by Assad as crossing a "red line."

No mention from Dennis that Obama did not respond militarily because the Republican Congress did not let him.  I wonder why Dennis forgot that part?

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Surprise: Upon Launch Obamacare Website Was Totally Unsecured and Easy to Hack"

That was four years ago.  Since then it has insured over 20 million people, brought security to countless American families, significantly cut the growth of medical costs in this country, helped to reduce the Federal budget deficit, and provided thousands of good jobs caring for the newly insured. No mention of those unimportant facts by Katie, of course.

Justin Holcomb, Town Hall:  "VP Pence Announces "100 Percent" Support of Japan During Tensions with North Korea"

Well, except for needlessly provoking North Korea to the point of possibly launching a nuclear surprise attack on Japan.  Other than that, we're behind you all the way, buddies!

Carter, Gateway Pundit:  "ANTIFA Leftist Group Is Selling Concealed Knives On Their Website For Slicing Conservatives...This should come as a warning to anybody who Antifa sees as a threat to their Communist, anarchist, violence-driven message."

And here it is, the incredibly threatening anti-Conservative knife:

Scary, huh?  This is the liberal "equivalent," I guess of the following:

Knife with a 2" blade; AR-15.  Same thing, really.

And now, the left is humiliated again:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "HAH! The Kid Who Mouthed “Fake News” Behind CNN at WH Easter Egg Roll Is Kellyanne Conway’s Son"

An absolute proof that he was just an average kid expressing the views of the American people. Kellyanne Conway's son, huh?  Poor kid.

Cristina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "DNC Chair Tom Perez Mentions Hillary During MSNBC Interview, American Flag Falls to the Ground"

God is on their side! Sits silent as millions are killed in endless wars, but knocks a flag over because the DNC chairman is talking.  Sounds about right to me.

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "Leftists are mean!"

Whatever, Lloyd.

World Net Daily:  "FBI probes radical terrorists in all 50 states"

None of this involves white right wing people, of course.  For a little context, you may want to go here, where you will find a map of the 917 currently identified hate groups in our country, most all of them right wingers.  World Net Daily is not concerned about them.

World Net Daily:  "'Jesus Christ Superstar' does show while stoned"

The contrast in the world today:  Left wingers are responsible for a musical being performed by stoned actors, our right wing President nearly causes World War III.  Just the same, really.

Jeffrey Folks, American Thinker:  "Donald Trump: A Simple Man...Donald Trump is not one of these "smart" intellectuals"

Man, you got that one right, buddy.  I was going to favor you with a little more of Jeffrey's thinking on this subject, but it was just too stupid; trust me.

Ned Barnett, American Thinker:  "The "Mother of All Bombs" was the perfect weapon for President Trump to use in Afghanistan"

Yeah, all boom and no results.  Perfect for Trump.

H. Sterling Burnett, American Thinker:  "Interior Department Takes Steps to Make America Great Again"

Steps like what, you wonder?

"On his last day as director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), January 19th, Dan Ashe issued a directive to phase out the use of lead ammunition and fishing tackle on the 307 million acres of federal land controlled by the agency...Ashe's directive did not last long. As one of his first official acts as secretary of the Interior Department, on March 2, Zinke rescinded Ashe’s lead ban."

Make America Great Again!!!!  Kill more animals for no reason!!!!

Chuck Ross, Daily Caller:  "'Never Trump' Candidate Unable To Pay Off Massive Campaign Debt"

What a loser.  Why not just take Donald Trump's way to deal with things like this?  Just tell them to get fucked and let them go to court for decades suing you to get their money back?

Yahoo:  "Why Is Jinger Duggar Getting Backlash for Wearing Pants?"

Because Americans are really stupid?  Because for right wingers, anything is better than having to cover the real news?

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:  "Daily Show Host Suggests That Trump Is On Drugs...it's hard to imagine Barack Obama being given similar treatment "

It is not hard, however, to imagine Barack Obama being called a Muslim plant, a founder of ISIS, a Communist, the Antichrist or Satan himself.  Those were all reasonable observations...Trump on drugs, strictly out of bounds.  Even though it would be the most charitable explanation of his behavior.

Marty Gottesfield, Red State:  "Think Obama Is Gone? His Prosecutors And Judges Leak On"

An interesting idea here:  when a Democratic President leaves office, all the judges he appoints are illegitimate and should be removed- maybe beheaded too.  Well, this is an interesting example of Republican Constitutional scholarship.

Mark Ellis, PJ Media:  "Beyond Trump, there is nothingness."

I sort of wish I'd read this article to see what it was about...nah, I have enough nothingness in my life.

Carter, Gateway Pundit:  "Unhinged Journalism Professor Says NRA More Dangerous Than ISIS"

Over the last decade, there have been 1,000 gun deaths in the United States for every person killed by a terrorist.  Yeah, you read that right.  So, which do you think is more dangerous to Americans, ISIS or the NRA?

Daily Caller:  "Now We Know Who Caitlyn Jenner Voted For -- And It's A Real Kick In The Teeth To Liberals In Hollywood"

Really?  Is there a non-asshole human being on the face of the earth that gives a damn about who Caitlyn Jenner voted for?

Jonah Bennet, Daily Caller:  "Taliban Fighters Disguised As Afghan Soldiers Launch Biggest Massacre Since 2001"

Well, unless you count the hundreds of thousands that America killed in our war of aggression.  This story is about a Taliban attack on an Afghan government army base in which 160 soldiers were killed. I've got news for you guys- that is a military defeat, not a massacre.

Andrew Follett, Daily Caller:  "Nuclear Scientist Says Advanced Reactors Will Be Great For Planet...'Cheap, meltdown-proof and waste-free nuclear power'

And in other news, YES!  Tinkerbelle is back!  But wait, there's more news that's being ignored by the mainstream press:

Before it's News:  "WW3 a Distraction While Planet 9 Enters Our Solar System"

World War III would just be a distraction!  So, "planet 9?"  I think maybe they meant "plan 9"...

A movie that is looking less and less farfetched with every passing day.

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "Kelly: Border Wall Will 'Move Forward' This Summer"

On it's own?  That I've got to see.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "The Same People Who Organized Trump Inauguration Riots Are Helping With The Climate March"

Who did you expect to organize them, Katie, Leprechauns?  By the way, I guess it's far enough past the inaugural that liars like Katie are sure their people have forgotten that there were no Trump Inauguration riots.

Joliphant, Red State:  "Russia Hacking Story Was Created By Clinton Campaign As Damage Control"

This just in: The whole fictitious story that there was such a thing as World War II was created by the Roosevelt administration to cover up how Roosevelt caused the Great Depression in the four years before he became President.

Jim Jamatis, Red State:  "It Shouldn’t Surprise You That the #MarchForScience Looks More Like Another MarchForLeftism"

And it shouldn't either.  We all know which side is for the truth and which side is for lies.

Larry Klayman, Renew America:  "Trump's taxes? What about Obama's birth certificate?"

God in heaven above, it will never stop.

Josh Kimbrell, Red State:  "City University of New York Hires Terrorist to Give Commencement"

"Major world power hires psychopathic bully to lead country."  Oh wait, I only imagined they ran that story.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "How Many Trump Supporters Need to Get Bludgeoned with BIKE LOCKS Before Trump Sends in National Guard?"

BIKE LOCKS!  BIKE LOCKS, I tell you!!!  Apparently, the number of Trump supporters bludgeoned by BIKE LOCKS!!!! in this carefully organized assault is now up to (ready for this?) one.  But that is enough reason to call out the National Guard and put down all left wing protest anywhere in the country, as far as Jim is concerned.  How many more than the 30,000 people killed by guns every year in this country do we need before the government does something about that?  Oops, I forgot, guns=freedom, bike locks=left wing tyranny.

Washington Examiner:  "Netanyahu tells Trump: 'Repeal or replace' Iran deal"

Let's just leave out the rest of the idiocy of this idea, and remind people that the Iran deal was entered into by Iran and five other countries; the US, Russia, Britain, Germany and France.  So no matter what Trump does, he can't "repeal" the deal.  He can, however, behave like a jackass over it, which is what he will do, without any encouragement from Netanyahu.

So, let's just go out on this story, which is obviously completely reliable:

Baxter Dmitry, Your News Wire:  "Queen Elizabeth “completely ruined her own party” yesterday when she announced to close friends and family that that “World War 3 must break out this year” in order for the Illuminati to usher humanity into the next phase of their sick and twisted masterplan.

“The Queen was speaking as though she knows the Illuminati’s plans inside out,” (a) Windsor Castle insider said, speaking on the strict condition of anonymity. “To make matters worse she seemed turned on by the thrill of a new world war.  The Queen said: “One must prepare for the new dawn humanity will soon wake up to, which cannot come into being without a period of complete darkness, the blackest of nights, the likes of which we have never experienced.”

Sounds just like her, huh?  The typical kind of talk we hear from a 91 year old woman.  Well, we all have seen plenty of pictures of the Queen, so I'll just leave you with a picture of a few of the other residents of Windsor Castle.  Maybe one of them is the insider that Baxter is relying on for his secret information:
You knew I couldn't pass up an opportunity to get Corgis in there.  At least it's an opportunity to go out on a positive note.

State of Forces

I ran one of these pictures only a couple of days ago, but I think it's worth seeing them together.

March against Trump today:

Pro Trump march last week:
We've been lied to so systematically about which side the American people are really on, with billions of dollars of Republican money spent to push the myth, and a willing press to pump it out.

Do not believe it.  Republicans win elections through massive smear campaigns, totally lying about what they and their opponents advocate, and pervasive vote rigging all across this country.  Now this has been augmented with their treasonous collaboration with a foreign dictator who wants to prevent any strong leadership in this country, and what you see above turns into electoral victories for a party that works against every interest of the American people.  Sad to say, it's worked out great  for them; digital age sabotage of democracy has proven far easier than even their worst backers thought it would be. It didn't take a few hundred thousand brownshirts; just a couple thousand trolls paid for by a foreign government, and a few hundred rich sociopaths willing to finance the collapse of their own government.

Another Party Heard From

From Yahoo UK News today:

"Russia sends troops to North Korea border as tensions escalate...A report from primemedia.RU claims: ‘Railway trains loaded with military equipment moving towards Primorsky region via Khabarovsk have been noticed by locals.

A military official added: ‘The movement of military equipment by different means of transport to southern areas is being observed across Primorsky region over the past week.’

The movement comes only a day after Russia and the US clashed at the UN over a UN security council statement, drafted by the US, which condemned North Korea’s latest failed test."

Not totally confirmed yet, but that's all we need- another superpower being sucked into the morass Trump has created by his grotesque mishandling of North Korea's government.  North Korean leaders have been acting in the same belligerent manner for decades, and every previous President, even the village idiot George W. Bush, has managed to respond in an adult manner.  No more, I guess.

We do not have quite the same entangling web of treaty obligations that we saw in the runup to World War I, but I do not think I am being unfair to see a similar phenomenon, where a number of world powers are being dragged into what should be a regional matter of little concern outside the area.  We can see, I think, North and South Korea as Bulgaria and Romania in 1914, countries of small consequence, but whose long standing alliances with the world's great powers are risking a cataclysmic collapse into violence.

I would like to say a little more about this comparison.  I have spent a lot of the last decade reading about the runup to World War I, going back to the unification of Germany in 1871.  I now believe that the war was not, in the end, about the Balkans at all, but about the death throes of European colonialism.  Until 1871, there were three "great powers" in Europe; England, France and Russia.  England and France had far flung colonial empires, and Russia had everything east of the Urals, as a sort of internal colony.  The unification of Germany began a game of musical chairs, in which four countries now competed for the colonies of three.  This caused tensions to rise dramatically, with numerous colonial struggles, such as the Agadir crisis, the struggle for European colonies and trade centers in the Pacific, or the fighting between England and France over the Sudan, bringing the world closer and closer to the cliff edge.  The Balkan crisis was really about colonialism too, with the "great powers" struggling over territories that were slipping away from the decaying Ottoman Empire.  There were two Balkan wars in the period before World War I.  We in the West tend to hear about nothing but Serbia and the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, but things were far more treacherous in Romania and Bulgaria.  Romania was primarily a Catholic, Western oriented country, and Bulgaria had a population of Slavs, primarily in the Orthodox church, who had natural associations with the Slavic, Orthodox country of Russia.  When the Ottomans began to lose their control over the Balkans, the two countries turned to their natural allies, and a ready made conflict of big countries was provided.

Here's a map of the Balkans from just before the Balkan wars; sorry that it's not in English, but I think it's easy enough to identify the countries involved:

What I have said in the above paragraph is a great simplification of the complex conditions that led to World War I, but I think it does show how great powers were sucked into what should have been a local affair.  We have, I think it is safe to say, a very similar alignment on the Korean peninsula today, with the Western powers being naturally aligned with the Capitalist South, while Russia and China have both historical and political connections with the North.  So, when Austria attacked Serbia, which by all rights it should have conquered in weeks, and then utterly muffed their invasion, in the greatest military blunder of the twentieth century, the resulting quagmire drew countries one by one to the aid of their smaller allies, and, as they would say at Scotland Yard, Bob's your uncle.

If Trump does decide to launch an attack against North Korea, as he is so obviously hungering to do, does anyone have the confidence that he could go for the quick kill?  An attack there that stretched out to more than a few days could easily draw the great powers into the struggle, with the most catastrophic results.  And Trump's obsession with appearance over substance would almost guarantee that whatever action the US took would collapse quickly into military catastrophe at least as great as that which overcame Bush's Iraq aggression, which incidentally was the greatest military blunder since the Austrian invasion of Serbia, with the possible exception of Hitler's fumbling the attack on Stalingrad.

So, there you have it.  If you wanted to write a novel about the start of World War III, there's a perfectly believable plot line for you.  Will it happen?  Probably not, because the worst rarely does happen, but it has happened twice in the last century or so, and that is without a patently mentally incompetent leader to lead the world into the abyss.  We'll see how it all goes.

The Man Who Would Be King

Here is a story that has bothered me for some reason, but seems to have been taken by the mainstream press as just a minor aberration in Donald Trump's behavior.  Trump has a visit to England planned in the fall.  As part of his trip, he has demanded that he be allowed to ride along with the Queen in the royal coach.
Maybe it is difficult for someone without familiarity with the country to appreciate what a colossal insult this is- it's like demanding that he be allowed to wear the crown.  You could, I suppose, just chalk this up as another example of Trump's pathological need to bully and humiliate everyone he comes in contact with, and that would be true; but I think there is more to it than that.

I commented a little while ago about Trump's replacing his top advisers one by one with members of his own family.  My thought was that, as he has taken power, his megalomania has grown, and merely being President is not enough for him.  He is coming to think of himself as the founder of a dynasty, or to be blunt, a King rather than a President.  Seen in this light it is hardly surprising that he is now insisting that he be treated exactly like real royalty.  Expect to see more of this sort of thing, as his frustration with the limitations of his position grow, and he attempts to assert his right to do whatever he damned pleases, even to the point of handing the country to his family in perpetuity.

Short Posts

I've noticed that I hardly seem to post anything these days but really short stories.  This bothered me until I looked at the current news, and realized that there is hardly any analysis needed for things like this:

President of United States says that Korea used to be part of China

Senior Republican says it's okay for the United States to destroy the countries of China, Japan and North and South Korea, as long as we are okay.

Top on air personality at smear factory gets $200 million dollars to lie the American people into electing a dictator, gets fired, but not for that.

President lies to world about where he is sending our navy, in order to bully a foreign country.

Vice President says that it's okay to murder foreign people, in order to send a lesson to other foreign people.

President has as a guest at the White House a person who threatened to shoot his opponent.

President makes remarks indicating he doesn't know the difference between the head of North Korea and the guy's father.

All against a background of new information every couple of days proving that Trump is a Russian traitor, which the press does everything it can to ignore.

And let's remember that all of this covers endless efforts by the Republican party to destroy Social Security, Medicare, environmental and health care regulation and every other thing that benefits anyone but the few hundred rich psychopaths that fund the Republicans.

There just isn't anything complicated about these stories.  They add up to a tale of a once meaningful political party that has willingly turned itself into a corrupt criminal enterprise in league with the nation's enemies.  It's been coming for decades now. Either you are willing to see it (apparently about 5% of the population) or you aren't, but the evidence is right there for anyone to see, and doesn't need complicated reasoning to explain.

No Excitement Here About O'Reilly

So everyone on the left is so excited that Bill O'Reilly is leaving Fox News.  Not me, no sir.  Consider the reality of O'Reilly's career there.

He worked for Fox News for about 20 years, spewing the most vicious pack of hatred and lies he possibly could.  For this he was paid millions; his salary at the end being about $18 million a year. So let's be cautious here and guess that, over the years this scum was paid about $200 million for his contribution to the country's well-being.  Just before leaving, he signed a new contract with Fox News, which they are apparently going to honor, perhaps netting him another $60 or $80 million.  And now that he is gone, he will just be replaced by one of ten thousand essentially identical right wing robots who are willing to sell their souls to the devil.

Not a bad deal for O'Reilly, who must have known his dirty deal couldn't last forever; Fox has made him rich beyond anything he could have ever imagined, and he doesn't need to do a thing he doesn't want to do for the rest of his life.

And, really, not much of a victory for the rest of us.

Moderate Republican Takes a Stand

Lindsey Graham, one of the two Republican Senators alleged throughout the mainstream media to actually be sane, spoke out today about Donald Trump's infantile warmongering:

"Yes, it would be terrible, but the war would be over there, it wouldn't be here...It would be bad for the Korean peninsula, it would be bad for China, it would be bad for Japan, it would be bad for South Korea, it would be the end of North Korea but what it would not do is hit America"

An unprovoked military aggression by the United States might result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in four countries, cause massive destruction and result in political disruption and a refugee crisis similar to what we are now seeing in Syria.  But who cares?  None of these people belong to the groups the Republican party panders to, and let's not forget that none of their citizens are white.  So who cares who we kill, as long as we can reverse the decay of support for the worst President in history, and help the Republicans hang on to power, regardless of how criminal they are?

This sort of reasoning truly justifies comparison with the Nazis.  And this is the view of the moderate end of the Republican party.  And remember, the Nazis had a real ideology, however contemptible, which they really believed in.  These guys are doing it for nothing but money and power.

Didn't Work

I guess I should note that Trump's popularity in the newest Pew poll hit 39%, the first time it has dropped below 40% in this poll, and in fact the lowest number a President in his first term has ever hit in the Pew poll.

Those bombs didn't work to stop his slide into Dick Cheney poll territory.  Well, I guess there is only one place for him to go now:
And I wish I could say I am kidding.  I guess there is an actual chance that the military would refuse Trump's demand to unleash a nuclear weapon on some innocent country, but that is just about our only hope, as Trump made it clear in intelligence briefings that he cannot for the life of him figure out a reason not to launch a first-strike nuclear weapon. If things keep going bad for him, we are very rapidly going to reach the point where starting a real, hot war is his only option to preserve himself, and we sure as hell know that the fate of anyone else won't play a part in his calculations.

Where in the World is Carl Vinson

The disappearing carrier strike group!  Last week, Donald Trump threatened North Korea by claiming that the strike group built around the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson was on its way over there, to threaten the North Koreans with bombing raids and God knows what-all.
Well, there they are, but not on their way to North Korea.  Turns out they are going to the Indian Ocean, to participate in long-planned annual exercises with the Australian navy.

So the world is now burdened by two nuclear armed lying bullies, each threatening the other with war, and each lying through his teeth, for the real purpose of inciting support for war among his populace.  No matter that their attempts to maintain a grip on their positions are each directed at a mentally unstable adversary with the power to do immense harm and, apparently, without much understanding of the risks of their bullying.

As I have mentioned, it's sort of like the Cuban missile crisis, if John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khruschev had been mentally disturbed, violence prone idiots.  And isn't it interesting to see our mainstream press contort itself in an effort to pretend that it's all business as normal?

Murder

We have just learned this, from our Vice President:

“Just in the past two weeks, the world witnessed the strength and resolve of our new president in actions taken in Syria and Afghanistan,” Pence warned. “North Korea would do well not to test his resolve or the strength of the armed forces of the United States in this region.”

The bombing in Afghanistan may have killed close to a hundred people; we do not know about casualties from the Syria bombing.  These people were killed to send a message to another country eight thousand miles away.  That is not a military response; it is murder.

I'm not going to waste my time or yours raving about what our country should do about a President who is nothing but a common thug and murderer; we all know that.  It is not going to be done, and I guess that is the end of the story, at least until he leads us into carnage we can't back out of.

Trumpsters On The March

Just for the record, there was a pro-Trump march in Philadelphia today.  And here it is:

How long will our mainstream press go on pretending that the Trump wave was anything but a one day phenomenon, generated by billions in spending by right wing sociopaths and a foreign dictator?

Sigh, probably forever, or at least until the nuclear weapons start going off.  They really will destroy the world for a few months of profits.

Insanity Reigns

I don't have much to say these days, because it is all so obvious, but can I remark what a terminally dysfunctional country we live in when Trump actually didn't voluntarily start a nuclear war this week, and it is interpreted as a move to the center?

The Least Interesting Massive Mainstream Press Firestorms of the Month

Will Trump keep Steve Bannon, or will he fire him and replace him with someone equally nauseating?  Will Trump keep Sean Spicer, or will he fire him and replace him with someone equally nauseating?  Will the Republicans keep Paul Ryan, or will they fire him and replace him with someone equally nauseating?

They can play this game forever, and they will.  Every time they kick someone under the train, the ever-cooperative mainstream press will have a thousand opportunities to write stories about how now, everything has changed, and it is our duty to love and obey Trump, and give Congressional Republicans everything their masters want.  This, apparently, is how you create a successful Republican government.

If success is defined Mugabe style as staying in power for years, in a country that you drive further into ruin every single day you are in control.

Wingnut Wrapup

Here we are again!  I think Trump's use of THE BIGGEST BOMB IN THE WORLD has gotten the wingnuts all excited, so they are out in force, dropping their own bombs, if only verbal ones.  I report, you decide- or laugh or ignore or whatever.

I am dedicating today's Wingnut Wrapup to Jeffrey Lord, a brain dead right wing liar who of course was seen by CNN as so politically astute that they just had to pay him to come on their network and preach the word to the American people, for uttering one of the most offensive political remarks of the last ten thousand years; to wit:

"Think of Donald Trump as the Martin Luther King of healthcare"

But there he sits, on our TV's, and there he will remain, demonstrating once again the real reason why this country can't find a way out of the wilderness.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Ari Fleischer, Both as a Jewish American and a Press Secretary, Empathizes With Spicer"

Remember Ari Fleischer?  He was George W. Bush's "press secretary," with the same job as Spicer, lying his ass off every single day to support an incompetent, worthless President.  Of course he empathizes with Spicer.  I bet Jeffrey Dahmer empathized with John Wayne Gacy, too.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:   "While We're All In A Fuss Over United, Look What Gulf Carriers Are Doing"

And what was that? Sending squads of goons onto the planes to beat random people for fun?  Selling passengers tickets and then dumping them in a ditch somewhere in the desert? No, this:

"...take a gander at the actions of some Gulf carriers--who, armed with generous government subsidies, are exploiting unenforced trade agreements to create an entire economy based on aviation.

The subsidies enable the Gulf airlines--Ethiad, Qatar, and Emirates--to make questionable business decisions that don't mesh up with customer demands"

I.e. exactly what capitalism is all about in the Republican world, unless it doesn't work in their favor.  Case in point: the coal industry, kept on its feet by Republican subsidies, despite its being as competitive as buckboards in today's economy.  It's only wrong when the people getting the benefit can't contribute to the Republican party with a small sliver of their proceeds.

“No company could tolerate such financial losses except for those receiving a never-ending stream of state subsidies."

Like the coal companies?  Despite our subsidies, five of the six largest US coal companies have gone bankrupt since 2000, but they are still getting the benefit of a playing field tilted radically in their direction, almost entirely (we haven't forgotten you, Joe Manchin) by Republicans.

John Stossel, Town Hall:  "Somehow, firing Tomahawk missiles at Syria suddenly changed people's opinions of President Trump. Now they call him a "serious" leader.

William Kristol said Trump's action "reassures you."

Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain, long critical of Trump, now say he "deserves the support of the American people.""

It changed people's opinions.  Republican people, that is, if the examples cited above are all that John has.

Jonah Goldberg, Town Hall:  "New Sheriff Fires a Warning Shot in Syria"

Oh God, who woke Jonah up?  Anyway, I remember seeing a pretty fair number of cowboy movies in my time.  As I remember, the guy who rode into town and shot the place up, and then rode away was not the sheriff, he was the bad guy.  I mean, am I right, or what?

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "Haley: US Ready to Help Bring Syrian Conflict 'To An End'

But how?  Maybe by bombing the whole place back into the stone age. That's the only idea they seem to have and, while that would technically accomplish the purpose of bringing the Syrian conflict to an end, I'm not sure it would really be perceived as a masterstroke of foreign diplomacy.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "FBI: Yeah, We Had A FISA Warrant For A Trump Adviser (Obtained It Last Summer)"

The FBI had credible evidence that a Trump advisor was colluding with the Russians to steal the election.  That is a bad thing about the FBI, not Trump.

Streiff, Red State:  "Avoiding Infinite War, Trump Notches up Some Diplomatic Successes Against North Korea"

If you believe that one, I have some great news about how Hansel and Gretel defeated the Big Bad Witch by sailing their fleet close to the witch's ports.  Fairy tales seem to be all the rage these days.

Jim Jamatis, Red State:  "How Did Islamic Protest Against a Christian Governor in Indonesia Become a Problem for Marvel Comics?"

How did something in a comic book become a problem for right wingers?  That's what I would like to know.

Patterico, Red State:  "Study: Support of Trump Now Considered “Conservative”

No shit, Sherlock.

Nathan Lichtman, PJ Media:  "Reporter Tells Kellyanne Conway That Trump Isn't Covered Fairly in the Media"

Reporter?  That would be one Michael Wolff, who writes for the Hollywood Reporter.  The last time something true appeared in the Hollywood Reporter was, oh, well, let me get back to you on that one. It was before my time, for sure.

Debra Heine, PJ Media:  "Report: House Investigation of Susan Rice Scandal Expanding...They are investigating if Americans beyond the Trump team were unmasked."

They haven't been able to find anyone yet, so they will "expand" the investigation, perhaps to the population of the whole world.

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "A Dem win in Georgia will cause huge backlash!"

Vote against us and we will throw a giant tantrum! And they will too, just like they do about everything else we do.

Michael Reagan, Newsmax:  "Unmask and oust the White House mole — President Donald Trump needs to learn the identity of the man or woman leaking embarrassing information about infighting between White House staffers and fire them immediately"

See, letting people know what chaos reigns in the White House is the same as being a traitor or a spy. Because to Republicans, truth is treason.

Jay Baggett, World Net Daily:  "Bible clue found in 3,000-year-old donkey dung"

Man, I'm glad to have that settled.  I just wonder why they didn't think to look in donkey dung first thing.  I mean, they spend most of their time spreading horse crap.

Tim Jones, American Thinker:  "Opioids and 'the Good Life'...Opioids represent the culmination of what secularism and liberalism have accomplished in their efforts to tear down all restraints to one’s conscience by destroying Christianity and biblical morality"

That's why opioid use is so heavily concentrated in liberal areas of the country:

Oh wait...

E. Jeffrey Ludwig, American Thinker:  "The Pursuit of Equality Is Deconstructing and Killing Us"

Better to give up on that idiotic, un-American value and go back to slavery, the way God intended.

In Touch Weekly:  "It looks like Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle Duggar, have found themselves in a parenting controversy!"

Oh my God!  Call out the National Guard!  Man the lifeboats!  Too bad they didn't find themselves in a "parenting controversy" instead of just a ratings controversy when they discovered that their son, the product of their oh so religious upbringing, was an incestuous child rapist.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  " BREAKING: U.S. Responds to Death of Green Beret By Dropping Massive Bomb in Afghanistan...Bomb never used in combat before..."Mother of all bombs"

Thank the Lord!  After eight years, the country has finally returned to Republican diplomacy!  The bomb? A fuel air bomb, or MOAB, nicknamed a "daisy cutter,"something mainly known from its use in an early scene in the movie "Outbreak."  Weapons like this have been sitting around for decades, but leave it to Donald Trumpto drop THE BIGGEST BOMB IN THE WORLD!!!!  It was dropped, allegedly, on an ISIS tunnel.  It was never designed for underground targets, but then, it is THE BIGGEST BOMB IN THE WORLD!!!! so how could you not think the pathetic Trump would use it first chance he got.  Of course, every right wing site I am looking at is crowing at the majesty of this useless act of egomania.  A random example:

Kristinn Taylor, Gateway Pundit:  "Another Promise Kept: Trump ‘Bombs the Sh*t’ Out of ISIS – Drops ‘Mother of All Bombs’ on ISIS in Afghanistan"

Another promise kept!  Trump promised to drop a bomb on someone and he did!  Forget the fact that this one bomb accomplished nothing except fuel Trump's mastubatory love of violence.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:  "North Korea Scared Everyone About A "Big Event" That Was Just The Opening Of A Street"

"Everyone" meaning you and all of your right wing friends, Christine.  The headline of this post should really have been, "Right Wingers Make Fools of Themselves Again!" but unfortunately, if right wingers told the truth, that would be the headline of every item that appears in Wingnut Wrapup.

Town Hall:  "Russia Thinks They Finally Have An Answer To The F-15"

Get scared, people!  The answer to the F-15?  The Russian SU-35, a plane first introduced in the late 1980's.

And how about a little out and out fantasy:

Susan Wright, Town Hall:  "Doubling Down: Steve Bannon Had Nothing To Do With Trump’s Success"

Right, Susan.  We'll keep your opinion in mind.

And what would a descent into wingnuttery be without a visit from The Stupidest Man On The Internet:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "BREAKING: House GOP to File Criminal Charges Against Lois Lerner in IRS Scandal"

Hate to break this to you, Jim, but only the judiciary can file criminal charges, and they exonerated Lois Lerner of any wrongdoing in this Republican smear job months ago.

And please remember that this all revolves around questioning the tax exemption claims of hundreds of right wing political groups who said they were not political, but "social welfare organizations," a condition of getting tax exempt status.  Of course, Lerner was absolutely right: not a single one of these lie factories has a shred of right to tax exempt status, but I guess you are not expected to take that fact into consideration when deciding whether she should be thrown in prison for her attempt to actually uphold the law.

Cristina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "Congress Expands Unmasking Probe to Examine Whether OTHER Presidential Candidates Were Surveilled"

They got nothing, but that won't lead them to drop the whole thing now, will it?

Eric Rush, World Net Daily:  "MR. PRESIDENT: PROSECUTE OBAMA OPERATIVES"

What for?  Who cares?  Well, here's a hint of the grounds:

"...it would behoove the Trump administration to aggressively and even ruthlessly pursue the prosecution of those former Obama administration operatives who materially participated in the clandestine surveillance of Trump’s campaign last year, those who are engaged in the sabotage of the new administration and those progressive ideologues in positions of power who continue to support the radical Obama-era agenda"

So:  first of all, prosecute them for something they didn't do.  Second, prosecute them for continuing to oppose the current administration.  And third, prosecute them for still advocating things they believe in.  Democracy, Hooah!!!

Before its News:  "Shocking New Info Released About Michelle Obama ...Did you know that Michelle Obama’s real name is Michael Robinson?"

Just to show that no lie, no matter how despicable, will ever die with right wingers.  This absurd, disgusting story has been around for years, because Republicans never succeeded in finding one thing wrong with the Obamas, and here it is again; "new news" which is neither new nor news, but just an old lie; i.e. all they have.  Just so you can check it out yourself, here's a photo from a right wing website, showing Robinson and Michelle:

A chance to meditate on what it is about these two photos that might make certain people think they are of the same person.

And let's just hang it up there.  "Bye!

Never Lose An Opportunity

Remember that saying about the PLO under Yasir Arafat, that "They never lose an opportunity to lose an opportunity?"  Well, I'm guessing that Donald Trump is getting ready to have that chiseled into the front of the White House.

Faced with a favorability rating dropping like the stock of United Air Lines today, Trump did the only thing he could: try to start a war.

So, he shot his sixty missiles off in the hopes of getting the kind of kick that rose the miserable loser George W. Bush up to 90% approval, and what happens?  It takes a day and a half for the White House to blast the whole thing into the past, by committing their usual round of public atrocity.

Sure, he will probably temporarily halt his flight path toward a truly Cheneyesque approval rating.  He may even get his numbers from 36% positive all the way up to a stellar 40% or so, at which point the mainstream press will of course be trumpeting about how he's turned everything around now, and is a real President, with the American people at his back, but I can't see it going much farther than that, except in polls like Rasmussen, which are more Republican propaganda artifacts than anything based on reality.

One more chance to act "presidential," i.e. sane, washed away by, well, more insanity.  So now, in a couple of weeks, the slide down the chute will continue.  Well, don't worry, because the White House announced that they are sending a huge naval task force to Korea, where he will be ready to sacrifice a few hundred thousand lives to keep his grip on his office.  That's where we are headed- does anyone now doubt that?

Gas

Today's mind-numbingly degraded comment coming out of the Trump White House has to do with the Nazis' use of poison gas:

"White House press secretary Sean Spicer created a major headline at this afternoon’s press briefing when he denounced Russia for sticking by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the wake of recent chemical attack on citizens, saying someons “as despicable as Adolph Hitler…didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons.”

"Spicer made it worse: “I think when you come to sarin gas, he was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing.”

And why might that be?  Why might Hitler have not used Sarin gas?  Maybe because he was such a nice guy?  Let's see if we can find out, something which will take approximately 45 seconds online:

"Sarin was discovered in 1938 in Wuppertal-Elberfeld in Germany by scientists at IG Farben...it is the most toxic of the four G-Series nerve agents made by Germany...

In mid-1939, the formula for the agent was passed to the chemical warfare section of the German Army Weapons Office, which ordered that it be brought into mass production for wartime use. Pilot plants were built, and a high-production facility was under construction (but was not finished) by the end of World War II."

So, in brief, Sarin was invented in Nazi Germany, by IG Farben, one of the worst industrial collaborators with the Nazis, and whose other contributions to a decent society included the production of Zyklon B, the gas used at the death camps; Germany was in the process of building a factory to mass produce Sarin for use in war until the end of World War II closed the facility.  Hitler was not using the gas because the factory wasn't operating yet. That certainly qualifies Hitler as a far nicer guy than Bashir Al Assad, I guess.  Like I say, 45 seconds to find the Wikipedia article, and  about two minutes to read it.

And I cannot resist a mention of the aforementioned death camps, referred to by Spicer in this speech as "holocaust centers," or as we know them here at Green Eagle, as "Jewish Disneylands."

If, by any chance, you are interested in more about the development of the German chemical industry and its willing collaboration with the Hitler war machine, you might like to read an excellent book,  Hell's Cartel: IG Farben and the Making of Hitler's War Machine, by Diarmuid Jeffries, available in a Kindle version as well as a hard copy.  Be sure to read to the end, where the belligerent intransigence of a right wing American judge prevented any but the most symbolic punishment of the monsters involved.

Wingnut Wrapup

Man, it's been tough lately, finding anything these assholes have to say that doesn't make me want to hit them with a baseball bat several hundred times, but here goes:

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "Ranking House Democrat On Intel Committee: No Definitive Proof Of Collusion Between Trump and Russia"

And there you have their strategy, in the face of treason that even an idiot could see:  No matter how many connections have turned up between Trump and the Russians, no matter how much money has changed hands, no matter how many actions Trump takes to alienate our allies and strengthen Putin's hand, it would never be "definitive proof" in the eyes of Conservatives who still see "definitive proof" that Hillary is running a child rape business in the nonexistent basement of a pizza parlor.  If Trump gave Putin a blow job on national TV and then did a Cossack dance around the stage singing the Russian national anthem, it would "prove" nothing to these people, because to them, "proof" consists only in things being the way they want them to be.

Ed Klein, Town Hall:  "Prince Jared Takes Charge"

Prince Jared.  So that is what we have come to as a country.  Imagine what would have happened had the press taken to talking about princesses Malia and Sasha.

Dennis Prager, Town Hall:  "It's Time for Conservatives to Celebrate This President"

Hurry, Dennis, before you won't be able to find a person on earth who will do that.  Here is a specimen of a truly grotesque rant from Dennis:

"Do conservatives -- or non-leftists, for that matter -- appreciate just how terrific Donald Trump has been as president? And how lucky we are that he won the presidency?

I don't know the answer.

What I do know is that they ought to be deeply appreciative of him, and deeply grateful for luck or providence, and certainly for Trump himself, that he was elected president... he has not only surpassed many of our expectations but also thus far governed in a manner more consistent with conservative principles than any president since Ronald Reagan, and arguably Calvin Coolidge."

Calvin Coolidge's policies caused the Great Depression, and Ronald Reagan's policies caused the 2008 near depression.  That seems to have slipped Dennis's mind.  I have said for decades now that Dennis Prager is the most intellectually dishonest pundit in the country; well, here is some excellent proof of that.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Senator Cornyn: Susan Rice Should Testify Under Oath About Unmasking"

A crime that, as far as I can tell, did not even exist a few weeks ago, but now should be the subject of months of Republican witch hunts.  Remind you of anything Republicans in Congress have been up to the last few years?

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "White House: Syria Attack Is Thanks to Obama Admin's Weakness"

As always.  Of course, it was Republicans in Congress that would not let Obama respond when the "red line" was crossed, but why bring that up now?

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Gohmert Claims Ryan, Priebus Ruined the Freedom Caucus's Meetings With Trump"

So sad.

Andrea Ruth, Red State:  "Melania Trump’s Official Portrait Is Different From All Others; Here’s Why"

Oh, let me guess.  She posed nude, in the arms of another nude woman?

Cristina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "CNN MELTDOWN! Chris Cuomo on Rice-gate: ‘Another Fake Scandal Being Peddled by Right-Wing Media"

It's a meltdown to tell the truth.

Chip McClean, Renew America:  "It starts with Rice: What did Obama know and when did he know it?"

Anything to cover up the Trump treason scandal.  And it seems to be working.

Dan Popp, Renew America:  "God is light"

Whatever.  I wouldn't even care if he was 100 pounds overweight.  That's his problem, not mine.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "So, The Obama Administration Knew Syria Didn’t Hand Over All Its Chemical Weapons, But Lied To Us Anyway?"

Well, except for the fact that the Obama administration did not know that, and didn't lie to us, a pretty clear statement from Matt, who backs it up as follows:

"Apparently, even as the Obama administration and its allies were peddling the notion that “100 percent” of Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles were removed and destroyed"

Apparently.  You know what "apparently" means in Republican speak, don't you?  It means "I don't have one shred of evidence to say this, but I'm going to blurt it out anyway."  And of course, yes, he had to go there:

"In keeping with the administration’s record post-Benghazi, is this another lie from the Obama administration?"

No further comment needed on that one.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Inside Look: How McConnell Thwarted Obama, Then Saved the Gorsuch Nomination"

By destroying the democratic process that we are supposed to use in this country, but as long as they get what they want, which in this case is one more corrupt tool of the rich on the Supreme Court, who cares, right?

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "Why Is Half Marathon Race Charging Men More than Women?"

We'd better get to the bottom of this RIGHT NOW!  Before we waste any time worrying about our treasonous President and his phony bombing raid, or anything like that.

Joseph Bilello, Town Hall:  "Remember When “White Privilege” Was Called “The Protestant Work Ethic”?

No, but I do remember when it was called racism.  In fact, it still is.  But of course, to Joseph it is all about how lazy those brown people are.  Let's not turn away from what this guy is saying here, which, to be brief, is that "niggers are shiftless."  Not quite sure what that has to do with Protestantism, but I guess that's where white people think they got the idea from.

Lauretta Brown, Town Hall:  "Watch: Ivanka Trump’s Adorable Children Sing in Mandarin for Chinese President Xi Jinping"

No thanks.  I'll stick to cat pictures.

Christian Toto, PJ Media:  "Why the Upcoming Cheney Biopic Will Be a Hit Piece"

A Cheney biopic?  How could it be anything else?

Michael Bresciani, Renew America:  "Stop calling our God-given faith and morality 'loveless and biased'

No.

World Net Daily:  "Faith Healing: Does it Work"

No.

Unless you are asking if it works to make a lot of money for con men who prey on the religious.  Then the answer would be, yes.

Paul Gottfried, American Thinker:  "Burton Yale Pines’s work America’s Greatest Blunder: The Fateful Decision to Enter World War One is hardly a new book. (It came out in 2012.)"

Too bad he didn't wait until November 8, 2016.  Then he could have called his book, "America's Second Greatest Blunder."  Oh wait, there was electing George W. Bush, and not impeaching Ronald Reagan, or letting the Republicans run the economy in the 1920's.  Okay, maybe " America’s Fifth Greatest Blunder: The Fateful Decision to Enter World War One."

Cameron Kinvig, The Federalist:  "Trump’s Surgical Strikes In Syria Are The Right Strategy"

"Surgical" strikes.  As in "plastic surgery."  On his approval rating.

Before It's News:  "Is Jared Kushner The AntiChrist?"

I've heard about the AntiChrist.  I never heard that he was somebody's  son in law.

World Net Daily EXCLUSIVE!  "Solar eclipse across U.S. called 'a sign from God'

Uh huh.  Do I need to point out again, that when World Net Daily uses the term "exclusive," it means that the story is so idiotic even the other right wing websites wouldn't touch it?

And now, I want to turn for a moment to the following heap of idiocy:

John Ehrett, The Federalist:  ‘Big Little Lies’ Hauntingly Portrays The Moral Vacuum Inside The Left’s Dream World

What happens when a community is obsessed with self-actualization at any cost? This new HBO series shows us the worst of progressive utopia... the community is diverse (discrimination seems to be a total non-issue), everyone’s successful and highly educated, and they all have more money than they know what to do with."

Everybody is rich!!!  Progressive utopia!  Man, that sounds more like a wingnut wet dream to me.

"Everyone knows everyone. The community is deeply invested in the lives of its children, in its community art projects (a theatrical production of “Avenue Q” is a major plot point), and in its commitments to health and localism. Ironically,”Big Little Lies”’ Monterey checks virtually all the boxes of standard conservative rhetoric about community building."

Well, except the standard Conservative part about rich people stealing everything from everyone else, which explains how they get to live in $20 million dollar houses on a cliff above the ocean.

Enough of this nonsense, already.  I wanted to post this for two reasons: first, it is a perfect example of how Conservatives try to suck the life out of anything anyone else does in life, to bend it to their own messages, and second, because it comes from the online publication of the Federalist Society, which is responsible for picking virtually all Republican nominated Judges, including Neil Gorsuch.

Oh yeah, and this:

"John Ehrett, a native of Dallas, Texas, and a graduate of Patrick Henry College, is a student at Yale Law School. His academic interests include civil liberties issues, international legal structures, and private law theory."

Well, Green Eagle  can hardly claim to have graduated from a right wing Christian college founded as far back as the year 2000, nor can he claim to be a student at Yale law school, so maybe he is not qualified in any way to opine about the meaning of a TV show.  On the other hand, Green Eagle did happen to work on "Big Little Lies," and during his time on the show, he never heard a single person have one God damned thing to say about garbage like this.  Take that for whatever it's worth.
