FDR

Today is the seventieth anniversary of the death of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  I'd like to take the opportunity to remind people what a real Democratic President sounded like.  If you have never heard this short clip, please take a couple of minutes to listen to it, and try to remember the last time you heard a living Democratic leader talk this way:



I've been to Warm Springs, Georgia, to the "Little White House" where Roosevelt was so content to be.  Here's a picture of it:

Roosevelt was born to wealth and influence, yet he didn't need car elevators and all the rest of it to be happy.  This humble little structure was all he wanted, and I think it says it all.  We can't seem to be able to have Democrats like this any more.  Too bad, huh?

It is thought-provoking that a leader was once able to say those things and win. Unfortunately money buys not only influence but the ability to persuade, and a lot of the population is now persuaded that talk like that is practically crazy.

The nearest we have to such a leader today is Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. But I doubt Warren could win a national election and I'm quite sure Sanders couldn't, even though it would be in the plain self-interest of most people.

When Clinton was elected based on "The third way" I understood why he did that, I didn't agree, but understood. We don't need a third way now, we need a leader who will tell the truth and, you know, lead.

Trump Just Truthed He's "The Real Commander-In-Chief" Well, he said it.  It must be true.  He "truthed" it! Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
