Wingnut Wrapup

It's a particularly tedious political day today.  I've got nothing constructive to say, so how about a load of unconstructive stuff.

First, it's about time for a small sample of the arrant nonsense which is (of course) the right's contribution to our understanding of what is going on in Egypt:

Rachel Alexander, Town Hall:  "Obama Administration Posturing All Over the Place on Egyptian Standoff...This kind of leadership makes the U.S. appear weak and vacillating, and is all too characteristic of liberal Democrats who lack strong principles when it comes to freedom and democracy. "

Democrats also lack a strong urge to act before we have a clue what's going on, like Republicans would.  Follow the right's advice, and Egypt could be the next Iraq.  Doesn't that sound great?

Michael Ledeen, Pajamas Media:  "The greatest American sin in 1979 was to confuse the shah.  He didn’t know what we wanted.  From the State Department he heard calls for sweet reasonableness, entreaties not to use live ammunition against the mobs, and so forth."

Our greatest sin- confusing the Shah by failing to order him to use violent repression against his own people.  What a quaint idea.  For thinking like this, Michael Ledeen is regarded as one of the nation's greatest conservative foreign policy experts.  Listen Michael, our greatest mistake was to back this filthy dictator in the first place.  The rest of it was chump change.

Claudia Rosett, Pajamas Media:  "Egypt: Please, Not ElBaradei"

Not after he made total fools out of those great American heroes, Bush and Cheney. He might remember how they treated him for telling the truth.

Abraham Miller, Pajamas Media:  "Studies of revolution, including the Russian Revolution, show that the loyalty of several companies of armed, disciplined, and well-led soldiers willing to continually fire into the mobs would crush any revolution"

Well, there's your conservative answer- kill them all.  By the way, Mr. Miller, now that I think about it, I'm not sure that your idea worked all that well in the Russian Revolution.  You might want to check out who won that one.

N. M. Guariglia, Pajamas Media:  "Remembering the Iran-Al-Qaeda Link...The connection that Western intelligence agencies fear to make"

They fear to make it, of course, because this preposterous claim was patently false.  I know, I know, what does that have to do with anything.

Alan Caruba, Renew America:  "How different everything might have been if U.S. troops had occupied Tehran in 1979..."

Yeah, we might still be there, just like in Iraq, wasting another couple of hundred billion dollars a year.  Boy, would that have been great.

Bryan Fischer, Renew America:  "Flying planes into buildings, killing thousands of innocents, makes you a good Muslim, but it makes you a bad Christian."

You're right there, Bryan.  Christians send our army over to kill them by the millions.  It's so much more efficient.

Erick Erickson, Red State:  "Barack Obama’s Egypt Failure"

No one knows what's happening, but we do know that Obama has already failed miserably.  That goes without saying, right?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Figures. Just Hours After Obama Praises Protesters Violence Erupts at Tahrir Square ...Gee. What are the odds that the Muslim Brotherhood had something to do with this?"

Well, just about zero, since it was known almost immediately that the thugs were right wing dictator Mubarak's people.

Wayne Allen Root, The Daily Caller:  "The media’s coverage of the Egypt crisis has been one-sided"

They just haven't been fair enough to the dictator.  And besides, the demonstrators are all Communists.  Well, if that's how you feel, Wayne, we'll keep that in mind.

And now, on to the general lunacy:

Robert Morrison, Town Hall:  "Americans don’t have Sputnik Moments.  Instead, we Americans recognize “The Eagle has landed.”

Thanks for that refreshing dose of jingoism, Robert.  What else do you have to contribute today?

"But it is spectacularly hypocritical for him to laud America’s space effort when he is the one who canceled our plans to return to the Moon. Astronaut Harrison Schmitt believes there is sufficient Helium 3 beneath the lunar surface to make nuclear fusion energy on earth abundant and cheap. It’s at least worth considering."

Wow, that's a really good reason to go to the Moon.  Except maybe for the fact that we don't have any way to get the Helium 3 back to earth, and the fact that no one has a clue how to make nuclear fusion energy work.  Other than that, great idea.  Oh, and that other fact that it costs $10,000 a pound to get anything 250 miles into space on the Space Shuttle, and God knows what it would cost to get something back from the moon. That helium better generate one hell of a lot of power at $10,000 a pound.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Now We Know… NASA Lied – 2010 Was Not the Hottest Year Ever"

No.  It was only the second hottest year ever.  That TOTALLY DEMOLISHES the notion of climate change.

World Net Daily:  "A Mississippi legislator has caught on to an idea that if the federal government won't complete a border fence separating the United States from Mexico, the states will – and he's planning on taxing illegal immigrants to fund it.  It's a very novel idea and certainly a departure from the thinking that the border is the federal government's responsibility"

It was a departure from any thinking at all.  In the first place, Mississippi is the poorest State in the country.  Maybe they should be concentrating on changing that.  Secondly, Mississippi doesn't have any foreign borders.  Where, exactly, does it intend to build its fence?  Maybe they could use it to keep out people from Louisiana.

And while we are on the subject, might I suggest that "a departure from the thinking that the border is the federal government's responsibility" is otherwise known as colossal lunacy.

Yossi Gestetner, Pajamas Media:  "George W. Bush: Visionary or just lucky?"

Just lucky, I'd say.  Lucky he's not spending the rest of his life in prison.

David Richards, Henry Makow.com:  "Does Bob Dylan Worship Satan?"

Really, guy, don't you have anything constructive to do with your time?

And now for the legislative idiocy of the day.  And you thought Arizona's plan to leave Obama off the Presidential ballot in 2012 was crazy:

World Net Daily:  "Virginia eyes switching off dollar...Virginia state Delegate Robert G. Marshall has introduced legislation to study whether the Commonwealth should make the preparations now to switch suddenly to an alternative currency"

Apparently the Constitution-loving patriots of Virginia have never read this:

"No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility."

I wonder where that quote might come from.

And finally, because every cloud has a silver lining:

Right Wing News:  "Globull Warming Could Lead To More Golf Days In Niagara Falls Area..And This Is Bad?"

Never mind that the extra golf will be purchased at the cost of mass famine and death around the globe.  Believe me, the people playing golf won't be worrying about that sort of thing.  There's always something to eat back at the clubhouse.

Oh heaven forbid the U.S. appear as anything other than doom incarnate. People might actually recognize it as a great and generous nation that respects freedom instead.

And do you want him to posture or not to posture? Make up your minds.

everyone should stop speculating and realize this is exactly what Obama wants over there.

Just heard that the majority of parrots, unlike humans, are left side dominant (left handed). Obviously the spawn of Satan.

Oh my God in Heaven above, Anonymous, have you descended to coming here and citing Henry Makow as an authority?

At any other blog, you might get away with your nonsense, but Henry Makow has been one of our favorite "contributors" to Wingnut Wrapup as long as this blog has existed. He is a certifiable lunatic as well as a grotesque anti-Semite.

Here are a few titles of Makow columns:

"How the Rockefellers Re-engineered Women"
"Does a Satanic Cult Rule the World?"
"Is the New World Order "Jewish"?
"Illuminati Sex Slaves Paint Horrifying Picture"
"Nazis SS Funded Nascent Israeli Army"
"Freud's Part in Our Satanic Possession"
"Bohemian Grove: Illuminati Meet This Week for Satanic Rituals"
"Jews Vs. Gays: When Illuminati Shills Collide"
"Illuminati Created the US to Advance NWO"
"Australian Adept Unveiled World Satanic Control"

This is only a very small sample of the writings and beliefs of Henry Makow. I want you to tell me if you accept any of this; and if you don't, you need to think about the fact that you have had to turn to the words of this malignant lunatic to find any support for your beliefs.

I ask you directly, do you believe that all of world history can be understood as a Jewish/Illuminati/Satainic plot to control the world? Do you believe that Jews are willing tools of Satan? Do you believe that the Nazis were a creation of Jews? Do you believe that a Satanic cult rules the world? I want an answer to these questions, so that we can know exactly where you stand. Please satisfy us on this issue before continuing to comment here.

Hey I just googled what I heard (and not from FOX) and that's what came up.

But hey we'll have to wait and see what happens and what info comes out of this but I always remain a skeptic when it comes to government, any government.
What I do find odd is that Chicago is a hotbed of Muslim organizations and x-PLO members(speaking of anti-semites) who just happen to be a friend of the president.

There was a video in 2007 going around put out by the Times at a meeting of PLO people that Obama was at with Rashid Khalidi and as soon as it went viral it was taken down.
I know you may find it hard to believe that there are actually creditable sources of news other than the Huffpo and MSNBC even though they don't toe the liberal line.
Calling people wingnuts doesn't make you right and them wrong.
It would be nice to liberals take the side of citizens under dictatorships for a change when the dictator isn't one of our allies.
As usual, the right does nothing but make up crap to bitch about. They offer n o alternatives.

Too bad all that energy is wasted on nothingness. They could scrub toilets or something else that befits their intellectual capacity.

Back that staatement up with facts, Bubba, otherwise you're just talking jackcrap, like the rest of the tin-foil wingers.

I'm so tired of this idiocy.

Anonymous,

I do not look at the Huffington Post or watch MSNBC. I try to rely on primary sources for my information, and failing that, someone a little more informed than those people.

Now, this is a good time for you to look inside yourself. The sources that you rely upon in your arguments here are often barely more credible than Henry Makow. These sources have led you, I am sorry to say, to have a totally delusional world view. This is leading you to support forces that don't give a damn about you and are ruining your world as fast as they can. PLEASE listen to this- it is not an attempt to insult you.
