Republican Ignorance- Worse Than We Thought


Can any story be more important and more depressing than this recent poll of Republicans commissioned by Daily Kos:














Only 32% of Republicans believe Obama shouldn't be impeached, even though he has never been accused of a single crime. A minority of Republicans believe Obama was born in the United States. 76% of Republicans believe than Acorn stole or might have stolen the last Presidential election.

And just keep reading. One madness after another. 86% of these ignorant, malicious fools claim to think that Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama. And on and on.

This is the fruit of three decades of the ugliest propaganda- a populace whose ignorance, greed and fury have exploded. That's the way Republicans want things, and it would seem that they have pretty much gotten their way.

I just want to say that this is why I spend so much time covering right wing websites. Conservative ideology and conservative lies and smears are creating a cataclysm in this country. I don't have a clue of how to stop it, but I do know that if we don't, we are all in for a really rough ride.

Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
