Hissy Fit Watch
A new feature here at Green Eagle, in which we try to guess what will be the next of the endless series of Republican tantrums, which have come to serve, for them, as a viable alternative to actually participating in governing the country.
Here are a couple of quotes from the news today, relating to Obama's criticism of Fox News. I could list more, but these will suffice:
David Limbaugh, Renew America: "Sorry to disillusion those of you who are still in denial about President Barack Obama's true socialistic and dictatorial nature, but this guy's militancy against his perceived enemies puts Richard Nixon's White House to shame."
Town Hall: (Republican Senator Lamar) Alexander to White House: Don't Create 'Enemies List'
Sad that he even has to make the suggestion to the White House."
Of course this is nonsense being as how there is exactly zero evidence that Obama has any kind of enemies list, but remember: to Republicans, speaking the truth is a dastardly, low attack on everything they hold dear.
In case you have forgotten, Nixon actually had an "enemies list" with dozens of names on it, and he used Federal agents to try to find embarassing things about them, had IRS actions taken against them, and hired criminals to break into their offices searching for compromising information (of which they found none.) That's the Republican way. Obama's "enemies list" has, as far as we know, no one on it except Fox News, about which he has simply spoken the truth. He hasn't done any of the illegal things that Nixon did. But still, Republicans are going to try to create a synthetic scandal around this issue, and they are getting some help from the press, which once again is treating it as a "he said-she said" matter, rather than reporting on the substance of the claims.
And as an added bonus, here are the two finalists for "Conservative projection of the day," in which Republicans have hallucinations in which Democrats are guilty of the worst excesses of standard right wing behavior:
Carl Paulus, American Thinker: "Democrats and the Politics of Rage: Democrats have become the party of utopian rage as they persist in replacing real political debate with effusive attacks on conservatives"
Minority Leader, Rep. John Boener: " Democrats' actions 'flat-out despicable' 'Chicago-style politics shutting the American people out and demonizing their opponents'
