So What?

Media Matters reports today:

"Fox News continues to falsely claim Dems considering "changing the rules" to pass health care reform."

And so what? This may be just one more Fox news lie, but what if it were true?

Isn't it about time that someone changed the rules that have denied us the same kind of universal health care that the entire rest of the industrialized world has had for fifty years? Isn't it about time that someone changed the rules that allow the rich to win and the rest of us lose, over and over again? The rules that see that the government is right there to bail out any huge corporation that fails, no matter how responsible they are for their own problems, but don't do a thing for the millions of innocent Americans damaged by the criminality of the rich? The rules that make taxes on the rich a sin, but have nothing to say when we pick up the tab for their criminal misbehavior?

It's about time we had rules that worked for us, and if the Dems have to change the rules to get their agenda passed, more power to them.

Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
